Breakfast time!

Onlookers would would see a man dressed compleatly in black, his cold blue eyes scaning the street. A girl would be riding on his back, her cheek on his shoulder as she would sleep against him. To the people of the area this was a common sight, at least the man was. He didn't talk much, but they saw him walking to and from his house daily.

Vash yawned, walking slowly as not to wake her. A mist had set in since he had left the training session, making the town around his shrouded in shadows. It had been nice to carry her on his back, it reminded him of his little sister. She had dissapeared when he was 16, both her and his younger brother, just three months after his parents had died.

He blinked hard, he shouldn't think about that. Escpecially when the girl that was asleep on his back had started to feel troubled when she had seen the pain in his eyes last night. Walking to a door to a two story house, he would slide the key into the lock and open the door. He would walk into his house. Sliding her gently onto the couch and covering her in a blanket, he would waqlk into the kitchen to make breakfast. Soon warm, spiced smells would waft out of the kitchen.

Maomi awoke to the smell of food. It was a nice change for her. Usually she would be the one up cooking. She blinked her eyes, noticing she was not in her house. She freaked out a little before she remembered the events from the past night. This must've been Vash's house. She was still confused about last nights events, why she was still alive. Why hadn't he killed her?

She walked sluggishly into the kitchen, still not fully awake. "Good morning, Vash." She said sleepily. The food smelt so good. She knew she was going to enjoy this. She just hoped Vash was a better cook than she was.

Vash would pull out a pan, turning on the gas to his stove. He would move his fingers to the gas, snapping his fingers, lighting the gas with a blue flame. Putting the pan onto the burner he would slide a pat of butter into the pan and let it melt. while it was melting he would take out a loaf of bread, some mustard, two eggs and chopped onions. Mixing the mustard, onions and eggs in a bowl, then he would dipp the bread into the mixture. putting the slices into the pan. As they sizzled in the pan he would take out cheese and ham. Placing them on the bread, he would place another slice ontop, then the cheese would stick it all together. A few minutes later he would put a dozen sandwhiches on a plate in the middle of the table just in time to see Maomi walk in.

"Good morning Maomi."

Maomi perked up at the sight of food. She hadn't realized how hungry she was. She hadn't really had much of a meal last night. She took one of the sandwiches. They looked so good. She sunk her teeth into it slowly, letting out a small moan as the food hit her tastebuds. "Mmm...This is good. Thank you very much, Vash. This sure beats my cooking. It almost reminds me of when Mom used to wake up early to cook, making sure me and Dad would wake up to warm food on the table." Her eyes saddened a bit as she spoke of the past. Vash kind of reminded her of what her dad had been like before her mom's death, or maybe he was just like the older brother she never had. She had always wanted siblings but was stuck as an only child.

Things had gotten out of hand for Vindice the night before. After meeting another rouge ninja, Akki Abhorsen, he had gone on his way through the village. He found some guys playing odds or even, and joined in. To his good luck, he had one 7 times in a row and then treated everyone around him to drinks. A lot of them. Now Vindice awoke in a hangover, leaning upon the window of someone's house.

"Ugh...what happened last night...? And whats that great smell...?"

Vindice's stomach rumbled as he looked through the window, watching the guy and girl inside eat. Maybe if he asked kindly they'd offer some? No...he was a rouge ninja who was apparently recognized by a higher ranking rouge. He couldn't take the chance of being found out with a hangover and empty stomach. But still, he remained looking into the house.

Vash would smile at her, glad swhe was enjoying the food. Taking one sandwhich for himself, he would lean against the counter, looking up thoughtfully. Taking a swig of the contents of a dark colored glass bottle, he would have an idea. He knew that Maomi had things rough at home, he wasn't sure about Yami though. Finishing his sandwhich, he would walk over cabinet. ruffling through it he would pull out a small silver key. He would place the key infront of Maomi.

"It's a key to my front door, just in case things dont go well at home. You are welcome to stay here, there are several unused bedrooms here."

Vash's back would tingle lightly and he would turn around to see the person outside of his window. He could see the person's eyes watching the sandwhiches. Sighing he would pick up a sandwhich, opening the window and handing it to him.

"It's not a good idea to wander arround a village like this one... Running Bull."

Maomi looked at Vash as he gave her a key to his house. "I can't accept something like this. It's too much." She looked away a bit. How could he do something like this. He barely knew her. She turned back around and noticed that Vash had gone to the window with one of the sandwiches. There was a man there she didn't recognise, though that wasn't too unusual. Then a name came up, a nickname by the sound of it. It sounded familiar.

Just then she heard what sounded like an urgent knock at the door. She wasn't sure if she should answer it, that is, until she started hearing her name being called, a edge of panic on the voice. She perked up instantly and ran to the door. There was a woman there. She looked like she had been running around for awhile. "Is there a girl named Maomi here?" She asked as the door was opened. When the door was wide, she noticed Maomi standing there. She was out of breath. "Maomi, thank goodness I found you. I-it's your dad. Something's happened to him. I'm not really sure what it is. He's in the hospital right now. All I know is that it isn't good."

Maomi eyes widened and her whole body went numb. 'What if it was my fault? Maybe it was because I never went home last night. What if he attempted suiside?' She thought, tears pouring down her slender face. She didn't know what to do, but her body didn't want to move.

Vindice sat down and tried to get his mind off his hunger, only to hear the sound of the window opening and the smell of sandwhich next to him. He looked up to the man holding it. His eyes were cold and sharp, scary even.

"It's not a good idea to wander arround a village like this one... Running Bull." said the man.

Vindice gulped. Oh no. To have so many people call him by his nickname, that would mean his name was definetly in the bingo book. And to have a bingo book would mean this was an ANBU or Jonin. Vindice was an A-Rank criminal but he had never been in a fight with someone of equal rank. And an earlier attempt to kill the Raikage had nearly killed him. And why is he offering me a sandwhich. Is it poisoned?! Vindice sat there panicing a bit until someone knocked on their door. He couldn't hear but it was something about a girl's father. Vindice quickly began eating the sandwhich, hoping to finish before the man decided to kill him.

Vash would look at the man, reaching a decision on what action to take. A large Raven would land on the sill, cawing at Vindice acusingly. Vash would stroke it's feathers, beginning to speak.

"I wont kill you right now, I have recived no direct orders to do so. But be warned, you are in the bingo book, and this village was not nicknamed "the Bloody Mist" for nothing.

He would hear the knock at the door, walking over just in time to hear the woman speak. Sighing he would place his hand on Maomi's shoulder.

"How about you tell Maomi what happened instead of scaring her out of her own mind."

Vash's hand felt comforting on the young chuunin's shoulder. She was glad he was there. The woman looked at the man and sighed, mostly to catch her breath. "Well, I'm not exactly sure what happened. I went in to check on him seeing as though you hadn't gone home last night I assumed you were busy. I know how it is, but when I went in to check on him he was even less responsive than usual. He wouldn't eat or anything. I looked for someone to help quickly and they rushed him to the hospital. I really don't know what's wrong."

Maomi's face was now drenched in tears. That was the only family she had left. She couldn't lose him. She tried her best to calm herself, whiping the tears away and putting on a strong face. She had to be tough. She had to get through this. She could not show any weakness. Her father needed her. She turned to Vash, completely disguising the emotion in her voice. "I'm sorry I have to cut our breakfast short. My father needs me." She turned away and headed out the door, following the woman.
